We've compiled a list of articles on the subject of football scouting
that have appeared in recent years in the The Coach's Advisor Journal, a
blog that covers a wide range of topics on the use of coaching
technology.
In this context, by "scouting" we mean the process of recording
information about each play in a football game, using coaching-specific
terminology and parameters, and then organizing and categorizing the
results in a variety of ways. Most often, the goal is to to
determine offensive and defensive tendencies, but other benefits
include calculating the efficiency and effectiveness of offense plays,
defensive play calls, and situation specific aspects of a football game.
